There I Go Scaring Motorists, Again

I don't know if I've mentioned this before, but I do not work in a good part of town. I work in a rather unpleasant part of town, actually. It's not the worst part of town, but the office is literally next to the tracks dividing bad and really bad.

(As an aside, we IT folks end up working next to train tracks a lot. It's where the high speed communications lines are.)

The route to get to my office goes through some gnarly areas. Not terrible, just sketchy.

So, it pays to be wary on the way to my office.

This morning as I rode in to work, a black SUV pulled up next to me and just stayed there as we went down the road. I hate that. Since the SUV wasn't going to pass me, I gave the throttle a little twist and got well in front of the SUV, since I wasn't about to slow down and get behind this moron.

Well, with traffic and road layout being what they were, a few blocks later I ended up behind the black SUV as I waited for a red light. It turned out the SUV was going the same way I was, so I followed this truck down a route which isn't heavily travelled, but is the best way to get to my office.

The driver noticed me.

He or she did some weird things with the turn signals, and nearly ran down a group of pedestrians in the crosswalk to get away from me. I want to mention here that I was not deliberately following the truck, nor was I tailgating or doing anything threatening; I was just riding behind this person.

I'm reasonably certain this driver works for the same establishment I do. The parking garage we use is, for want of a better description, scary as hell. You know in movies where the hero drives past a camp of homeless scary people, with fires in 50 gallon drums, and it's always dark outside? The buildings have no lights on inside? Those scenes, I'm fairly sure, are filmed outside my parking garage.

Our parking garage is definitely the kind of place I wouldn't want a crazed stalker following me into.

Evidently, neither did the driver of the SUV, as he or she started to turn into the parking garage, but then did a shaky u-turn instead and sped off.

So, black SUV driver, if you're out there - I'm not going to kill you, I promise.
